What’s better than sipping piña coladas on a Caribbean island, you may ask? A warm cup of Cuban coffee over the white sands of New Mexico.
A day into my spring break, I stuffed three T-shirts in a backpack, grabbed my copy of Homer’s The Odyssey, and hopped on a plane to Santa Fe. Here are some memories from the Land of Enchantment.
1-7: White Sands National Park
8-11: Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge
12-13: Weathering out a snowstorm in Lincoln National Forest
14-15: Soaking in Spence Hot Springs deep in the Jemez Mountains
Lastly, no epic trip is complete without an unforgettable soundtrack. The groovy Masayoshi Takanaka’s That’s the Way of the World blasted from my Jeep Renegade on long drives and late nights.
